For this 5-day holiday we will be staying for 4 nights half board at the Holiday Inn, Gosforth Park, Newcastle Upon Tyne
The visits will include:
Visit to RHS Bridgwater on our way to Newcastle.
Visit to Alnwick Garden (including guided tour of the poison garden)
Visit to Cragside (also National Trust property, so only free to NT members)
You may have seen a recent programme ‘Gardens from above’ featuring Christine Walkden viewing Cragside from a hot air balloon. She was very impressed, not only seeing it from the air but walking round and talking to the gardeners there. Sir William Armstrong who had the house constructed was a 19th century pioneer who built a very impressive mansion as well as a huge rockery near the house, and the grounds are very extensive. We can be sure of a good visit here.
Guided tour of Durham cathedral and river cruise
Visit to Whalton Manor gardens and Wallington Hall
Visit to RHS Harlow Carr gardens on our return on the final day.
